Our friendly and informative Moorlands Bushcraft team specialise in sharing their bushcraft skills and knowledge needed for you to experience and enjoy living in the woods, and on the moors, in a comfortable, simple and traditional way. It is far more than just surviving; it is about embracing and living the experience.

Moorlands Bushcraft are based on the Staffordshire Moorlands and operate sensitively and responsibly in private woodland. We can also bring our Bushcraft skills to you and can operate on many other sites in and around the peak District.

Our team of I.O.L. (Institute of Outdoor Learning) bushcraft practitioners (with a minimum accreditation of Foundational Bushcraft Competence) can bring bushcraft to schools, which will all help towards fulfilling your LOtC (Learning outside the classroom) requirements. Moorlands Bushcraft have also brought bushcraft skills to schools to support Duke of Edinburgh Award programmes. Where we have introduced bushcraft skills to schools for LOtC purposes, a series of progressive sessions has lead to an over-night woodland experience using all their new bushcraft skills.

For friends and family, Moorlands Bushcraft provide day and weekend bushcraft experiences, and, because most of the skills will be new to everyone, are a great way for the family to have a shared and common experience. Mums and daughters, Dads and lads, Aunts and Uncles and best friends will leave enlightened, inspired and hungry for the next bushcraft camp.

To find out more, please explore both our standard courses available and also our bespoke courses, and see how bushcraft can enhance your personal life skills and experiences.

Hot news from the embers of a camp fire!

Moorlands Bushcraft is a trading name of Derwent pursuits, the umbrella business. We are very proud to announce that in May 2009 We were awarded the LOtC (Learning Outside the Classroom) quality assured badge.

The standards that the council for Learning Outside the Classroom assess against are aimed at a high understanding and quantifying of client needs, the quality and accuracy of information flow, delivery of pertinent programmes and events and finally, a system of measuring the effectiveness of the delivery, assessing and acting on feedback.

We believe that the standards set by the council for Learning Outside the Classroom should become an industry benchmark.

Bushcraft Parties

Children's Bushcraft parties are a perfect way of celebrating a birthday. The children's bushcraft party will include shelter building, fire by friction using a bow drill and use of a fire steel, a campfire, Kelly Kettles, hot dogs and marshmallows and some natural cordage work. Depending on the age and number of bushcraft partygoers, there may even be some sharp tool (bushcraft knife) handling, but we will discuss this with you first.

The adult's bushcraft stag party or bushcraft hen party will be a bit more grown-up. We will include some survival skills training and proper campfire cooking, but the bit that everyone wants to do, young or old, is the fire by friction!

Budget bushcraft

We are passionate about our Budget bushcraft. So many activities and pastimes have gone kit crazy. We would like to demonstrate to you a life-changing hobby that will cost you less than 50. Each week you probably throw away most of the things that you could use to make a weekend in the woods a memorable experience. Bushcraft on a budget should not result in being uncomfortable. Your bushcraft experience, with well-chosen budget bushcraft equipment, a carefully selected environment and weather, should be one to share with your friends and keep as memories.

Your Bushcraft Experience

Staffordshire bushcraft, Derbyshire bushcraft, Peak District bushcraft, Leicestershire bushcraft, even Cheshire bushcraft, we can bring a bushcraft camp to your area!

Bushcraft in the Staffordshire moorlands is different from bushcraft in Derbyshire and a Peak District bushcraft experience. With different environments and resources the issues are the same but the solutions vary. Again, a Leicestershire bushcraft camp will differ from a Cheshire bushcraft camp. This is what excites us. Are you interested to discover the differences?
